“White Fragility: Why it’s So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism” with Jackie Parker

Two of EO’s five core values are Trust and Respect and Boldly Go. Protestors are marching in the streets due to police brutality and the unequal treatment of Black Americans.  EO Atlanta wants to bring an honest conversation about actions we can take as individuals, companies, and organization.

The conversation will be a workshop style where we will discuss the book “White Fragility: Why it’s So Hard for White People to Talk About Racism” by Dr. Robin DiAngelo (provided for registered attendees). Jackie Parker, Vice President of Corporate Giving, will moderate the discussion around race and the impact of police brutality in America. Our primary goal is to provide a safe space for our members to talk openly and focus on growing, learning, and sharing from each experience. We’ll have two rounds of break out discussions on race, structural racism, police brutality, and actionable takeaways. You’ll gain insights into your blindspots around race and create a resource for the next steps. You’ll also get a list of resources on how you can help the current situation.

About the Speaker:

Recognized for cultivating partnerships and fostering community relationships across an organization’s footprint. A strong financial and organizational management experience; knowledge of financial instruments, rules, regulations, and standards for Corporate Social Responsibility. Successfully led GM’s legacy giving through a transformation from generosity to problem-solving. Before founding JWP Consulting, Parker was President, GM Foundation, and Director of Global Corporate Philanthropy where she managed a $40M global charitable operation. In addition to GM, Parker was the pioneer founder of Newell Rubbermaid’s CSR strategy, having launched operations for Inclusion and Diversity, NWL’s Corporate Giving department, and Newell Rubbermaid Foundation. With a vast corporate background, Jackie previously held positions with PepsiCo, Nabisco Foods, Campbell Soup Company, and Quaker Oats.
