In 2017, Hurricane Maria, a deadly Category 4 hurricane, devastated Puerto Rico, causing more than $81 billion in damages, significant loss of life, and tourism coming to a standstill. Puerto Rico resembled a ghost town.
But through the storm came a renewed sense of pride for Puerto Rican culture and heritage that is encapsulated in a new “Live Boricua” motto.
Today, the island is more vibrant than ever, and visitors are experiencing “faces not places,” interacting with locals and immersing themselves in Puerto Rico’s rich culture.
We have designed the EO Atlanta Chapter Retreat in the spirit of “Live Boricua!” and with the goal of engaging our members in the local culture, while supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs and creating opportunities for deeper connections among participants.

THURSDAY, JANUARY 19
Welcome to Puerto Rico! Get settled into the hotel and join the rest of the crew for a Welcome Reception with ocean views and a fantastic guest speaker: Jen Ruiz. “I had two choices – continue to live my life in limbo or do something drastic. I chose drastic.” – Jen Ruiz

Eat, Drink & Connect! After the reception, explore one of the 8 dining concepts in the hotel with fellow retreaters and then gather at the VC Lounge for after dinner drinks and cool ocean breezes.
FRIDAY, JANUARY 20
Get Your Adventure On! Waterfalls, rainforests, beaches, oh my! We’ll pick our adventure and explore Puerto Rico’s wild side, and return to the Hotel for some beach time in the afternoon.
Get Your Party On! What do you get when you combine parades, live music, dancing, singing, libations, and food? The San Sebastian Street Festival, or as the locals call it: San Se.The largest celebration in Puerto Rico just got bigger with EO Atlanta in the mix!
SATURDAY, JANUARY 21
Live Boricua! Our retreat is only complete after a full immersion in the Boricua way of life. On this special day out, we will dive into the rich traditions and history of the Taínos, venture on a tasty exploration of Puerto Rico’s best street foods, and take a lesson in the Bomba, Puerto Rico’s official dance.
We will round out our Live Boricua! experience with curated dine-arounds that will take us deep into Puerto Rico’s rich culinary heritage. We’ll enjoy the city’s most popular chef-driven restaurants, and, in true Boricua fashion, our route to dinner will include a big EO ATLANTA SUPRISE.
